The Shell Knob Basin (Southwest Missouri)
Herefords by far!.... by far!... speaking from definite experience here.... but you'll get a bunch of solid red calves!!! a bunch!... and also get more that have the feather down their back and full white underlines with white stockings.... so its all in what your after.... ive found the real world way that breeding bwf cows to angus bulls will yeild 50% plus solid black calves!.... just what iv noticed every time here..... hope that helps... weve been going back with homozygous whiteface simangus bulls that are usually 75% Angus or so.... they work well on the F1 hereford angus bwf cows and throw mostly bwf calves.... not telling you at all thats what you should do.... just went that route becasue we tried first breeding to angus 50%+ solid blacks.... then tried decent herefords and got 30% red wf with 10% or so havein the whole feather hereford look... and the balance60% being just perfect bwf.... but still had 30% or so reds..... (it could be as high as 50% reds on true hereford angus F1's)....
