Tablerock Ranch eastern Wa
don't use big junk steel like T posts, to big of a diameter for a 4"pour, always use expansion joints when running along existing foundation walls as others suggested, no steel required in sidewalks but its always ok, don't pour your apron without at least a six foot grid of rebar, with a bar within six inches along face where it gets pounded on approach, cut sidewalk joints wet with a $10 joiner trowel every eight feet and expansion joint every third " 24 " feet, as far as tying you apron to your garage floor, you could go either way, float free with expansion joint or pin to floor with your grid, don't use contaminated hog panels on a 4" pour "manure" if you can help it, also you didn't say if you were putting a broom finish on but I would suggest you rent a slick float "Fresno" to use with your long handles after its been laid out for a while, makes your job easier when you get on your knee boards if you plan on it, if not your slick will be a must if you want to be happy with your finish for years. hire someone or rent a saw yourself and cut your joints if you don't plan on getting on knee boards, no bigger grid then twelve foot, ten foot is even better as suggested.
