Yorkshire UK | Look out for a combined DVD and Hard drive type.
In our house a lot of recording is watched soon after rather than kept - hard drive is ideal, if you want to keep it you can copy it onto the DVD.
If anyone has 'valuable' VHS tapes much more than ten years old it's high time you got them onto DVD anyway.
We have some VHS camcorder footage which is starting to degrade and mess the video heads, the tape is 15 years old but has been kept in good conditions - dry, not too warm.
VHS is dying slowly - another 5 years you will not be able to get VHS players from most regular outlets.
