no wheres land
Here in Iowa on average (except for last 2 years) we have to start feeding cows the first of January so why not calve in January if you are feeding them anyway? Most of my neighbors calve in January, but a few calve in April. Our January calves are so much farther ahead than their April calves and both sets of cows have the same amount of feed in them. If you have the time and the facilities to calve in January it is the best way to go.
