I think the unimpressive looking plastic valve with the styrofoam float in my Lapp waterer is a Franklin. Thus far it has worked flawlessly and hasn't leaked. I installed my Lapp the same time another guy installed 3 Ritchies and we've been comparing notes through the cold snap. The "balls" on his Ritchies have frozen up several times while the disks on my Lapp have not.
