Nevada, Iowa | I am speaking from a lack of knowledge and experience as I have never had a higher level of education but I believe that most if not all college fraternities have a part of their joining process that is secretive. I am not trying to change your view regarding secrets but as a fraternity, Freemasonry is no different.
As a farmer there are many aspects of my business that I prefer remain private. I would visit with you on the street corner and would lend you a hand if needed but I won't tell you my checking account balance.
I could be dead wrong but I would wager if you got to know some of the Mason's in your community fairly well, there would be at least one that you would grow to respect greatly. That in itself tells a story. Not that the same couldn't be said for a Kiwanis or a Lion or a Legion member. Mason's don't have a corner on that market, neither should we be excluded because of a few private items. | |
