We lost a flag pole to wind several years ago. I bought an "Uncommon" flag pole at the Gordyville Farm Show that next winter. We've had some 60-70 mph winds & it doesn't even bend. Not cheap but I would highly recommend one. IIRC, ours is 20' tall. The telescoping feature is really nice as well & I've never had a problem if it binding or locking up.
