Texas/New Mexico Stateline | I know of a 3600 sq ft. nice home in our area with a asking price of $225,000. Only problem with it is, it is dated inside (needs some updating) and the school district that it is in. But otherwise a very, very nice roomy home for less than $60 a sq. foot.
My sister just bought a brand new townhome in central Dallas, TX for about $55 a sq. foot this winter. BRAND NEW. The city did have a subsidy to help with the down payment and cheapen it up a little, but if she lives there more than 5 years she gets to keep it. Mortgage was about the same as rent, so why not? The city has been razing that area, and having all new apartments, townhomes, and single homes built to try and bring in a ...... well..... a little more affluent citizenry.
Costs $75-85 a sq. foot to have a readi-built, non metal frame home built in Lubbock, TX. Delivered, set, a/c installed, bricked. Bring it on big skids, set it on piers, pull the skids out from under it. |
