| Wish I could answer your question indefinitely. If it were me I would talk to your rep for your sunflower seed. Going purely for size the seed makes me think that not using hi-oleic would be a better choice. Our nusun and hi-oleic would not grade out very well over a 64 screen, but we go for oil so we don't care. We talked about growing some bird seed last year and I know that our rep was going to get us a different number than the ones we normally plant. That being said mycogen would tell you that 8n453 and 8n449 are some of their best bird seed flowers, and they are traditionally excellent oil producers, so who knows? Seems like a good price though. We can Act of God our oils to the oil crushers for 23.85 and maybe pick up another 8% due to oil premium get us to $25.75. I am not sure what percent of oils typically grades out above the size 64. In confections that is usually around 85%. What price are they paying you that doesn't make the size? | |
