Nebraska | This thread brings back memories. I was in my teens when the '98 hog market didn't exists. One day we decided any sign of "imperfection" in the farrowing barn, would be put down. We filled a couple 55 gallon drums of baby pigs that day. Probably culled 20-30% of the herd since the packers would dock you to $0. I remember at first cringing and having cotton mouth, then you just did it. We would do it against the concrete wall. Using a hammer, .22 or bolt gun was cumbersome and usually did more harm then good. For us and the pigs. | |
