Subject: RE: Bible question, cremation

Oklahoma
Recently had a distant family member who is a pastor, lost a grown son in an accident. Some of the family wanted him cremated and the pastor did not. While going through this struggle, he gave several sermons on cremation. I don't remember everything on the issue but a couple points that stuck out. Whatever happens to a body doesn't affect judgement. However everywhere in the Bible that burning a body is mentioned it was a form of punishment and he gave several examples of that. Lastly the body is God's creation and thus we are to respect it not incinerate it as the pastor mentioned or other defamation of the body such as some of the things we see from the middle east being done to bodies of soldiers. There was also mention of those where it specifies they were buried such as Moses and Jesus.
