NE AR | A smooth roller does not work as well rolling stubble, if the water is a little deep the loose straw will float out around the ends of the roller and leave windrows of straw, Adding cleats (snakekillers) to the roller grabs this loose straw and shoves it down in the mud and helps it rot. Now you know one of the reasons nobody wants a tractor from the south and can see what alot of those tractors have been doing before a jockey cleans it up and paints the wheels and sends it up north. I saw a pic a few years ago of rolling stubble in California with a steel track crawler pulling a roller that was not solid but built like a big open cage that the water could flow through. Thought that would be good where the water was too deep to roll with a solid roller. | |
