Subject: sow question

TX
It seems like everyone on here is pretty negative about raising hogs, that got me to thinking. can hogs, especially sows, be fed alternative feeds. We deal with a company that deals in all types of grain by-products most are in the 58-64 neg range. some of these feeds are priced well below corn at times. they aren't a real great fit for us in our feedlot rations because they are to short on energy. I'm just sometimes surprised there isn't more demand for these products from hog guys. also can sows be fed ground ear corn? If they can why doesn't anybody? I'm not thinking about getting into the hog business and I know next to nothing about hogs I'm just curious about how things work.
