| Just because the machine is brand new doesn't mean it doesn't need daily maintenance like greasing, checking tension of belts and chains, fluid levels, check for leaks, etc. One of the worst things I see is people investing alot of money into a machine but then investing in the cheapest grease available. If your friend had half of his 15 combines breakdown then I think it is more a lack of maintenance and proper inspection EVERY morning then the manufacturer's fault. Personally, my biggest issue is not combine reliablility but operator reliability. I saw one STS that the feederhouse chain jammed in the rotor because the chain was loose at noon but the operator figured he would tighten it the next morning because there was a slight chance of showers overnight. | |
