Subject: hauling tractor state to state; need advise

Somewhere in North central Iowa
I live in IA and a relative of mine bought a tractor in MN about 4 hours north of me. It's a cabless IH 460 and I am going to borrow a 25' GN trailer to bring it home on behind a 2001 F-250.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but can I just load it and bring it home? (chained down, of course) I just don't want some DOT guy pulling me over and 'bending' me over if you know what I mean.
I want to get it later this week so any advise would be great.
Thanks, John
