0.71 mg/oz
multiply by 16 oz/pound =11.36 mg/pound of mineral
2.2 pounds per kg x 11.36 = 24.99 mg/kg (same as ppm)
24 pounds DM divided by 2.2 pounds per kg = 10.9 kg DM
3ppm (mg/kg) x 10.9 kg = maximum of 32 mg selenium per head per day.
It would take 2.81 pounds of mineral to deliver 3 ppm in 24 pounds of drymatter. Any less than this, you should be fine. Keep in mind the cows DM intake of other feeds would drop by 2.81 pounds or perhaps you could get them to eat more to get the mineral in and still get the 24 pounds of other feeds?
I really doubt you will like to feed the mineral at the maximum rate of selenium. Are you seeing deficiency symptoms? Have you done any testing?
it was the mg/kg that I was missing before and was just reading and was about to start crunching the numbers on
well done you must have done this before haha |
