I cant believe Mark hasn't commented yet-you can soak your corn in water,or whatever is wet-and your not going to gain much unless they dont have water?Shell corn will be fine -you will gain about 5% efficency by cracking-if you feed 150 bushel of corn you will gain 7.5 bushel or a savings of $52.50 or $17.50 a head.
One advantage of whole shell corn is the scratch factor-less chance of acidous.
You could buy a small mill but you will quickly lose any profit as $52.50 doesnt pay for much-
If you feed at the exact time every day that will do more then soaking or grinding your corn!
