Baldwin City, KS | Don't give up. We started from an acreage size like you described and God knows we have had the weeks like you are talking about. Seems like some folks are threatened by your evident work ethic and want to get you squashed before you give them a run for their bank's money. Right now it feels like the only ones watching are the vultures. Trust me there are others watching too that can help you out someday, and how you handle this adversity will make all the difference in the world with your farming career. Don't become some vocal hater of the land sharks. It will only make you look worse than them. Mark my words, you will get there, but at the end of the day, you have to keep a good attitude and focus on what's ahead. Awful disappointing to put ton's of work into a farm that no one would walk across the road to pee on for the last 20 years, then some big shot all of the sudden some big shot thinks he needs that ground worse than you. Even worse when landlords act funny about things and don't give a strait story about the whole deal. Still, water under the bridge. Move forward. Before you know it, something will break loose and your next problem will be trying to figure out how to get it all done. You will be there. | |
