NE MO & W IL | The ideal tile depth is all based on soil type and permibility. If you have highly permable soils, the deeper you lay your tile, the wider the draw and you can get by with wider spacing. However, if you lay your laterals 36-48 inches in most missouri clay pan soils, research has shown it's not going to work well. We are on job right now with putnam and mexico soil types with the impermible layer around 22-28 inches. Our target depth is set at 28 inches to bottom of tile on 20 ft. spacing. Most of the runs are being laid from 27-34 inches depending on how much natural fall we have. In Illinois, our target depth goes down to 32-36 inches with 40-60 ft spacing, as the soils are generally deeper. Your main depth with dictate what you can do as well. | |
