ecmn
5000-8500???WHAT

i would never go there again. on a 4850 if you have the book its an afternoon job.

dont take the wheels off weld up a tire dolly, pretty easy to make, and is very usefull around the shop.

if you use the tire dolly the wheel holds the axle, take out the planetary and use a bottle jack between the end of the housing and the cast wheel and you can push the housing and inner bearing loose. with a cherry picker lift the housing off.

if you have to replace any bearings weld a bead on the inside surface of the cups in the axle housing and they come out real easy.

follow your book and make note of how things are coming apart. this is a perfect job to do yourself. at 5000 dollars of savings you would be paying yourself a huge wage.

for 8500 dollars you could rebuild this axle and put a new tire on it. lol
