X2 on what row cropper said high water and floods change the creek bank and bottom so you have to be able to adjust your suction tube. I have irrigated out of a creek since 1980 and the stream profile has constantly changed over that time frame. I do not se the riverscreen mentioned above but I have seen where they are built and they are a very good product. I just use a perforated 36inch long tee on the bottomof my suction tube for my centrificial pump . I pump 800gpm, I did not have to clean my screen once in a 1000 hrs this year the water is about 4ft deep where I pump. Please let us know how your idea works out it sounds good if it works.
