Two of you said you can't get in if it is raining. Is every acre you farm within a half mile of the shop ?
No, but I do drive the combine at least a couple of miles to the shop for service in the am. This covers most of my acres. As for rain/showers, I'll drive it home even farther so we can look things over and try to avoid breakdowns while its wet.
As to the original post, each of us has a unique situation/equipment that needs to be addressed. The trick is planning for the future. I built a 30X16.5 thought it was tall enough for a picker, they made them taller, at least the baskets come down easy now. Then we get a 30' disk and it barely fits under the header, don't think a 40' would go unless it was a quad fold. Width, well, lets say with these old eyes, at night, a 25' header in a 30' door seems like its only 6" on each side. |
