North Central Illinois | I disagree. I think a person's farmstead says a lot about how they operate as a whole. I'm not saying the place has to be picture perfect with a fresh coat of paint on all the buildings and perfectly landscaped etc. I look to see if they keep things picked up and if they fix something when it needs it. Are there shingles or tin missing off of buildings? Are there boards missing off of fences that obviously have been gone for a while? Has the driveway been leveled and had a little bit of gravel added at some point in time since Nixon was president? Do they are least keep the weeds knocked down next to the buildings? To me stuff like that says a lot about how a person takes care of things. Other than that it pretty much comes down to looking at the machine and seeing if it is complete and if everything works. I also like to see a record of repairs and maintenance. Even better yet I like to hear the owner talk intelligently about his machine telling me what repairs were done and when. | |
