I have two, one retired this year, but still in good working order. 
Both have been exceptionally reliable. When I bought them, I changed the gear oil to Amsoil.
With the 8x32 truck auger, gearbox seals were replaced a few years ago. Gears looked as new.

Those prices are, IMO, too high. Two years ago, I saw a 8x62 galvanized(looked near new) go for $100 at a farm sale. Low demand. Search the sale bills.
