Subject: How we do Hi Tech sampling in North Dakota

Rolla, ND
I don't have as real good picture but here's how we do it in North Dakota.

Hydraulic cylinder mounted on a sub frame, remove seat, put hole through pickup floor, electric over hydraulic pump running off pickup's battery system (2 batteries), laptop or ipaq for guidance and logging.

Samples taken to 2 ft depth, soil probe leaning against hydraulic ram in picture. Samples split into topsoil and subsoil portions. Subsoil used for nitrate and sulphate analysis. Moved the baskets to the side so you can see the ram better, usually they ride right alongside the driver. Soil put directly into plastic bags, not into container itself to prevent contamination.
