Central Kansas
No way we washed it out of the soil. We have been split applying in fall and spring though which might be helping some. I haven't dealt with sun hemp. I am a little scared of it though. Notill Gleaner has used it some and looks like to me that without rolling it it could wrap up your planter shafts. From the studies I've seen it looks like a good option. Grazing characteristics I can't say.
I think I am going to use radishes in 30 " rows and put out hairy vetch and red clover where I am currently grazing feeder heifers on wheat. But I also bat around the idea of double crop beans. If I cc this wheat field it would be to use the radishes to open things up and the legumes to build some Nitrogen. I don't like mixing grass and broad leaves because of the weed control. I know everyone says that it will choke it out. Apparently they haven't looked real close. I know it can work but I've worked pretty hard to get my notill cleaned up from the past with weeds and I do not want it to come back.
