Subject: RR job sounds like paradise

Little River, TX

Comparatively speaking the RR job sounds like paradise.
Compared to the Military for sure. The military has both lower pay as well as lousy hours.
Then there are those who work off shore oil. The pay is really good, but the hours are only slightly better than the military as I knew it.

Then we have the independent over the road Trucker.

One thing good about the RR job is when you are working overtime you get overtime pay.
The military pays by the month which does not involve overtime pay. True the military does have family separation pay, and combat pay. I do not believe the skimmer Navy receives extra pay for time at sea.

For a number of years the AF had us document our duty time. For us it averaged in the 72 hour a week range.
I had it easy being in the Pacific off and on Bombing Viet Nam from 1967 to 1973. That was a walk in the park for the time down range these last few years for the Army and Marines.

Do not be confused, I enjoyed my work, and would recommend it for any and all.
