Near-north Ontario, French River | The guys around here use Vapam to fumigate the beds. It's a liquid product that is knifed into the middle of the beds, its done at least 3 weeks prior to planting to avoid injury to the plug plants. Nematodes, not sure of the species but they are different from soybean cyst nematodes, can really take the top off of yields. It might be worth contacting your state/local disease guy as it sounds like its not a common problem in your area. Here EVERYONE fumigates some if not all of their acres. |
