| Dietary S levels need to be considered with DDG...some monogastric specie don't tolerate high dietary S levels and this can affect fat in the product put on the shelf. Processing which uses H2SO4 is the culprit. Too much S also ties up Cu in the cow so there is potenial effects on immune status. 4 or 5-way byproduct supplements are common here, but at $300-400 per ton supplement winter pasture seems most economical...small grain seed prices haven't changed much in the last 2 decades.
How common is hominy feed these days? Availability? Price compared to other byproducts?
Energy is the most limiting nutrient in most forage diets, I'd rather have the starch.
