Flandreau, SD | I run a fert dealer with my inlaws and putting it under plastic and scooping up later doesn't sound very fun. Dry fert will suck up humidity and become hard. maybe not concrete but you will have to break it up with loader. The piles in our bins are about 15 to 18 feet deep and it will be straight up like a wall and have to be careful about knocking it down.
Some have conditioners or lumpbusters, screen on there blenders to get the big lumps down to size.
Storing on ground is most likely against regs. But I will get nailed for this. Farmers get away with everything. We had a state inspector come and wacth us spray today and drove by 5 or 6 farmers spraying and did not even look at them. They were doing nothing wrong but we are not doing anything wrong ether. enough crying right!
We put up some cone bottom bins and have had goodluck with them if they are sealed up tight. then just use your auger to load spreader.
Your best bet is some cone bottoms and an auger
