SW Saskatchewan | A few years ago we were shopping for recliner chairs and bought laz-e-boy leather because of their recline mechanism and have had no problems. When we were shopping, the dealer had told us that they were going to be able to sell cheaper in the future because they had just let out their leather contracts to a chinese company so they could sell cheaper but there was no mention made about the actual chair construction being moved out of North America. Maybe you got Chinese - need a new one in 15 minutes!
We were able to find a local small town dealer who had what we wanted in stock (american made) for a respectable price so we bought there. Have had NO problems with the leather or the mechanism on the recliner, reclining love seat or reclining chesterfield(er sofa or davenport depending on local terminology).
Son bought Palliser, also good but I find it difficult to operate the recline mechanism and the seat where he sits all the time has started to sag-no leather problems!
You have to pay more to get better, but the big chains have enough power they can induce a manufacturer to reduce quality to meet a price in which case you can get less than what you pay for. | |
