Jefferson, SD
A corn example-not my field but one I planted for a neighbor, direct seeded into soybean stubble, it grew to normal height, tasseled and put on ears. I believe this field has been no-till beans on beans for 3-5yrs.

That area is very uniform heavy clay, grid sample and there is virtually no difference for 3 miles. Neighbor across the fence did fall deep tillage and then field cultivated before planting this spring. His was also soybeans last year.

Neighbor's corn stopped at about V7-V9 and did not product any tassels etc. Looks like a big difference in soil moisture from spring.

I have not walked the field to know if there is much yield potential but there is a big difference.

There may be some difference from multiple years of soybeans saving moisture, hard to determine all the factors.
