Where Lewis and Clark finished the rum | I see an anwer wrt ArcMap, you said you had ArcView - I assume vs 3.x. If so, look in "File" for extensions and check the geoprocessing wizard. This should let you merge themes, including grids, which is how I think you want the DEM to come in. I don't have AV up right now, but I think this is accurate.
