Subject: IH 8100 truck clutch

I have a 1998 IH 8100 truck with a cummins L10 and a 10 speed Trans. and a single axle with a 10 foot dump bed. The clutch is giving me problems. It shifts into gear when I am starting out without grinding gears. But if the trans. oil is below 60degrees it can be very hard to shift without grinding gears. Sometimes you have to come to a complete stop in order to get it in gear. When you shift you have to let the tach go below 1000 rpm before you move it out of the lower gear going to a higher gear. Doesn't matter which gears you are shifting out of. Shifting down is very trickyalso. I have had the clutch adjusted. Is the problem in the clutch or the trans. brake? Thanks for your help.
