But then you have a real nitrate problem unless you wait till they are no longer green and then some. Any corn stalks that can be called " real scrumptious cow feed" probably needs to be ensiled before it is safe. BTDT.

Luke, I agree if this is just a holding area and they have plenty of nearby food other than stiff, wire-rope-like bt lower stalks they are not likely to eat enough stalk to cause a problem.
