Medicine Mound,TX
I can't really give you advise, but we have an 80 acre drip irrigated field that the way the sections fall is in 5 different sections. The way the insurance was, they wanted us to harvest all five separate. That required turning in the field 12 times and they also wanted us to plow borders on all the lines so we would have to plow out strips of our crops... Needless to say we did not like this. So, we made it an enterprise with a field just south of it that has a pivot and also about 130 acres of dryland. The pivot is light on water so we water half or quarter circles. This completely screws our dryland cotton for insurance purposes. The pivot and the drip always make enough to cover the losses of the dryland. It sucks, but there is no way we could keep the other way straight. It's hard to know what to do.
