Martinsville, Ohio | Field capacity is somewhat similar across the midwest. My soil can hold at least 5 inches of water and I have received over 5 since planting. I am blessed from that standpoint. It varies from that and some is more and some is less.
I have roots 50 inches deep, something I have been working on since I started farming some of this ground 8 years ago. The ground with only my third crop in it suffers the most because I have not had the time to build up the fertility and water holding capacity I have on the 8 year ground. The big thing is it all needs an inch right now to maximize what I got and keep some plants alive in the worst spots.

Yield is being lost each day without water right now.
