plant stage wise, soon as its done filling/aborting kernels its of no real value. Rain will still add test weight but doesn't really add up to helping much.

Drought wise, as soon as the plant is "fired" above the ear, its pretty well done for. Atleast i've never seen corn fire above the ear and pull it out to add anything.
