At 10 d with temps over 104 and at least one day hitting 109, what were soil temps? Here that would translate to 100-120F soil temps 2-4" below bare soil or sod.
Litter won't activate in hot dry soil....no water, no microbes, no mineralization....but it will be there for the 2013 crop(s).
