 2.most likely was in wheat, some is coc. rotations go fallow wheat corn, sometime  stack the rotation like fallow wheat wheat, corn, ect. 


3.Some of it is, some of it could of had wheat, sunflowers, beans.


4.  Notill was going great guns but the unkillable kochia has brought tillage back, these fields could go back to wheat this fall or maybe milo next year.


And yes we are dry, irrigated has even suffered for the 105+ temps and wind, but got a nice rain last night.
