Subject: Drivers & Duals

Huntley Montana

If they are lined up they'll slip enough to "fit  the track". If not then they will always be trying to "fit the track" by slipping because they will never be able to match the track the fronts made unless the mismatch is the same front to rearon each side.  V to V is the easyest way to get this.   V to V center on both would also do this, but would be harder to hit perfect.
But the idea is to use the impressions from the front tires to "hook" with the rears, Not to be having to "slip fit" all day. So unless the front & rear drivers & duals have the same  offset   they will be trying all day to slip to fit.    Most times with a little care when bolting on the dual you can "match the treads" by turning the tire untill the treads match up. Most duals have 10 differant holes in the hubs, some now have 12. If the tires have the same wear you have 20 "combinations" front to rear to be able to try to match treads.

Once you get the fronts to rears to match, you'll notice they will "bounce" a time/2 after a turn untill they "slip to fit" then they'll pull like they should.  IF the dual hubs only had 1 way they fit (like a offset hole"  ) it would be a lot easyer for tires to stay matched. But everytime they are dismounted there is a chance they'll be remounted wrong.

With singles the front & rears can always be able to match, duals is when they have the problems .     Otherwise why is it that it's only some tractors that have persistaint problems with power hop & others work way better with the same setup?
