FWIW, the hopper purchaser who lives in this house says that he's definitely not in favor of putting any type of impact on traps.  He'd simply open his own, as he does at many of the places he delivers, instead of taking a chance on damaging a trap.   A little maintenance goes a long ways in making that job much easier.
