novaman, people may be saying there break evens are $16 or lower but i can't believe it to be true. If dairyman figure there corn and hay at market value instead of just cost of production there break evens are probably closer to the $18-$18.50 range. Still have to remember that crop could have been sold to the elevator or to another producer at a pretty profitable price. Everyone seems to think that us dairyman can make money at these, what used to sound good prices, but its far different today. If i figure it right for every dollar corn goes up it adds approximately $.85 cwt to my breakeven. I do agree about with some of these modern technologies have hurt us in ways but thats with everything technology is always going to be a player and its never going away, so if its there a lot of us are going to use it to be profitable.
