Subject: Not this time of year

Iowa
Hydroseeding still needs watered.

We seed by the rule of 85- if 10 days of the next 15-20 could likely be above 85- don't. I don't care how much water you can dump on it. And since this one can't be watered--in Iowa-- I would seed about sept 10 if "normal" or better rainfall is anticipated. If the fall is unusually dry we wait- spring has more dependable moisture but I still prefer fall due to warm soils/rapid germination and "gully washers" are less likely.

My company seeds several pallets of seed both spring and fall-- we have to or wouldn't get it all done. We never seed after June 5 or so except as part of a repair, etc, and then only if it can be watered. Absolutely no seeding at all in July or August.
