You know, dieseldoc, you didn't ask my opinion, but I am going to give it anyway......

maybe this is a situation where it might be worthwhile to consider selling off the cows, or at least a majority of them, and taking a break.  Selling off the milking string, keeping heifers and calves.   If you can find someone to help feed heifers and calves, it would give you a break  (and maybe a much needed break ?), and give you time to get your body healed....... and then you could work back into the dairying again over time. 

Maybe this can or cannot work for you.  however, I have seen guys to this.  It's a matter of your own situation whether this can work or not.
