I know a guy who painted laminate ctops a while back. He liked the results short term results, but never did ask hom how they lasted. IIRC, he rough scuffed the tops and got paint from a local paint co. I do remember he did lots of prep work, moving appliances, sanding, masking off, etc.

I'd suggest looking into laminate tops if your looking for something (relatively) cheap and and easy. Only thing less expensive would be paint, and may be worth the shot??
