Just steal some regurgitated food from a healthy animal and feed it to an unhealthy one.
Its pretty easy to do just headgate one and flush its mouth with water and catch the run off.
Or if you are lucky you can just swipe a ball if its there.

I've done it with chronics with limited results. Usually the animal has lung damage and no amount of rumen function is going to overcome that.
On a large preventative scale I don't think the benefits would compensate for the effort of collecting or keeping fistulated donor animals around.
If it would- I believe feedlots would already be doing it to cut down on feed ramp up time.
