Do you think presidential candidates or legislators will stand idly by and do nothing if we come in with a crop that is virtually assured to run us out of corn and then some? Of course not because grain prices will skyrocket and food wholesalers and retailers will use that as an excuse to raise prices and gouge people dramatically. Politicians will not stand by and do nothing. The only thing I can see that they could possibly do would be to repeal the RFS with the ethanol mandate and possibly pressure the EPA to temporarily suspend the requirement for ethanol as an oxygenate. (sp?) This is all speculation but that is what I could see happening. I'm wrong a lot though so take it for it is worth which probably isn't much. | |
