I never used that large of tank with the vortex interruptor. I think you would still want the cross to settle near the bottom because the vortex won't start till it gets nearly empty. I would think it might start higher in the tank if you were using a 3" pump with higher gpm. You might need to anchor the cross to keep it from spinning in that large of tank.
