Subject: RE: Dealer profit on used equipment

I've offered as much as 25% lower than asking, and they many times take the deal without hesitation(or maybe a fake trip to the manager). The dealer "asking" price on used is considerably higher than what they'll take, but it likely depends on the dealer and their philosophy. I'd start at 25% and see what happens. If you are shopping for something in the $100,000 range you'd be well served to buy Iron Guide, last time I got one(about 3 years ago) they cost $50, and I used it for two purchases, of a combine and tractor, they probably saved me $30K by walking into the negotiation informed. Think of it as the Kelly Blue Book of farm equipment. I think that's a pretty good ROI...$50 turns into $30K? And you also know that your offer is realistic and not insulting.
